Karl Burthom is a guitarist who has been performing and teaching guitar in Sligo area for the last 12 years. Born in Manchester, Karl started to learn the guitar at the age of seven. He has embraced blues rock, classical, country and jazz styles and taught and performed these with many of the area’s finest musicians.
Karl has a Grade 8 with Distinction in Classical Guitar and a Diploma in Community and Group Music Education both from the Royal Irish Academy of Music. He teaches on both our Discovering Music and Instrumental tuition programmes.
He enjoys playing other instruments such as clarinet, violin, ukulele and keyboard, and has a keen interest in composition.
