Sligo Baroque Festival Outreach
Sligo Baroque Festival in partnership with Music Generation Sligo provided an interactive concert at Mercy Primary and St John’s N.S. last week. Children were treated to the sonorous strains of a 18th century violin, period harp and a Ukranian instrument called the torban and enjoyed hearing beautiful Baroque music by Bach among others. It was a special privilege to hear the torban, played by expert Maria Viksnia, as there are only four players in the world and this was the first time the instrument has come to Ireland.
Thank you to the schools and to the players from the Sligo Baroque Festival for providing this unique opportunity.
